AZS refractory brick, fully named Alumina Zirconia Silica brick, is a high-performance fused-cast refractory material specially developed for extreme high-temperature and corrosive industrial environments. Composed of three core chemical components—alumina (Al₂O₃), zirconia (ZrO₂), and silica (SiO₂), this innovative refractory brick integrates the superior properties of each raw material, making it one of the most reliable lining materials for high-temperature industrial furnaces worldwide. Unlike traditional sintered refractory bricks, AZS bricks are manufactured through advanced electric arc fusion and casting processes, forming a dense, uniform, and low-porosity internal structure that delivers outstanding thermal stability and chemical durability .

The production process of AZS refractory bricks is rigorous and sophisticated, ensuring consistent and superior product quality. High-purity industrial alumina, zircon sand, and silica raw materials are precisely proportioned according to grade standards. The mixed raw materials are then melted at an ultra-high temperature above 2000°C in an electric arc furnace to form a homogeneous molten liquid. After full fusion and impurity removal, the molten liquid is poured into customized molds for natural cooling and shaping. Finally, finished products are obtained through annealing, cutting, and surface treatment to eliminate internal stress. This fused-cast production method endows AZS bricks with a compact structure, extremely low porosity (ranging from 1% to 10%), and high bulk density of 3.4 to 4.0 g/cm³, laying a solid foundation for its excellent service performance .

AZS refractory bricks boast a series of exceptional physical and chemical properties that distinguish them from ordinary refractory materials. First and foremost, they feature excellent high-temperature resistance, with a maximum continuous service temperature of up to 1700°C–1800°C, enabling long-term stable operation in ultra-high-temperature furnace environments . Secondly, they possess unparalleled corrosion resistance against molten glass, industrial slag, acid, and alkali media, effectively resisting chemical erosion and penetration in harsh industrial conditions, which greatly extends the service life of furnace linings . In addition, AZS bricks have strong thermal shock stability, resisting cracking and peeling caused by rapid temperature changes. They also exhibit low high-temperature creep rate, excellent mechanical strength, and wear resistance, maintaining stable structural integrity under long-term high-temperature load and frequent mechanical impact .
Based on different zirconia content, AZS refractory bricks are mainly classified into three mainstream grades: AZS-33, AZS-36, and AZS-41, corresponding to 33%, 36%, and 41% zirconia content respectively. With the increase of zirconia content, the brick’s corrosion resistance and high-temperature performance are further enhanced. This graded classification allows enterprises to select targeted products according to different furnace working conditions, achieving a balance between performance and cost . Low-zirconium AZS-33 bricks are suitable for conventional low-corrosion high-temperature areas, while high-zirconium AZS-41 bricks are applied in severe corrosion zones such as furnace working ends and material channels .
Thanks to their comprehensive superior performance, AZS refractory bricks are widely applied in multiple high-end industrial fields, dominating the glass manufacturing industry as their core application scenario. They are the preferred lining material for glass melting furnaces, float glass tin baths, glass flow channels, and storage tank components, effectively solving the problem of molten glass corrosion on furnace walls and significantly improving the continuous production efficiency of glass factories . Beyond the glass industry, AZS bricks are also extensively used in metallurgical blast furnaces, electric arc furnaces, ladle linings, ceramic sintering kilns, high-temperature chemical reactors, and acid-base high-temperature pipeline linings, providing reliable high-temperature protection for various thermal equipment .
In modern industrial production, high efficiency, energy conservation, and long equipment service life have become core development demands. As a high-performance refractory material, AZS refractory bricks effectively reduce furnace maintenance frequency and production downtime due to their long service life and stable performance, greatly lowering enterprise operation and maintenance costs. Their dense structure also reduces heat loss, helping industrial furnaces achieve energy-saving and emission-reduction effects .
