AZS castable is an unshaped refractory material formulated primarily from electrofused zirconia-alumina (AZS) granules and fine powder, with the addition of high-performance binders and composite additives. The product retains the excellent resistance to glass melt erosion and thermal shock inherent in AZS material, while offering the convenience and integrity of cast installation. It is an ideal material for repairing critical areas, performing partial replacements, and conducting full-scale casting in glass melting furnaces.
Key Features:
Excellent Erosion Resistance: Rich in ZrO₂, the material forms a dense protective layer after curing, providing outstanding resistance to both sodium-calcium and borosilicate glass melts, ensuring a long service life.
High Integrity with Seamless Construction: Whether applied via on-site casting or precast components, it forms a seamless, monolithic lining that fundamentally prevents glass melt leakage through joints.
Good Thermal Shock Resistance: The inherent low thermal expansion coefficient of AZS material, combined with the optimized matrix composition of the castable, prevents cracking or spalling under rapid cooling and heating conditions.
Convenient and Flexible Application: Simply mix with water for use. Suitable for casting, repairing, and applying to complex shapes, it enables rapid repair of eroded areas such as melting pool walls and flow cavities, thereby reducing furnace downtime.
High Strength and Wear Resistance: After curing, it exhibits high strength at both ambient and medium temperatures, withstanding mechanical wear caused by charging impact and molten glass flow.
Low Contamination: Strict control of iron and other impurities minimizes the risk of contaminating the molten glass.
Applications:
Local repairs and full-surface casting of melting tank walls and bottoms in glass melting furnaces; filling and reinforcement of flow cavities; slope protection at charging ports; and repairs to regenerator walls. Suitable for hot and cold repair projects in melting furnaces for bottle and jar glass, tableware glass, and float glass.
