AZS rammed refractory is a semi-dry, unshaped refractory material formulated using granules and fine powder of electrofused zirconia-alumina (AZS) as the base material, with the addition of chemical binders and sintering aids. Applied through a ramming process, this product features high density, strong erosion resistance, and excellent structural integrity. It serves as an ideal sealing and filling material for sealing the bottom of glass melting furnace pits, reinforcing flow channels, and constructing furnace hearths.
Key Features:
High-Density, Gap-Free Sealing: The high-density, monolithic layer formed through vigorous tamping eliminates brick joints and voids, effectively preventing molten glass from seeping downward or penetrating upward, thereby protecting the furnace bottom insulation layer.
Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: The AZS binder, with its high zirconia content, forms a viscous protective layer upon contact with molten glass, providing exceptional resistance to corrosion from both soda-lime glass and specialty glass melts.
Good thermal shock stability: The material’s inherent low coefficient of thermal expansion, combined with a reasonable particle size distribution, ensures the rammed layer remains crack-free and bulge-free during furnace temperature cycling, maintaining overall stability.
Flexible construction and high adaptability: The semi-dry loose material state facilitates transportation and storage. It can be rammed and shaped at any location within the furnace according to on-site requirements, and repair and partial replacement operations are simple and quick.
Low Sintering Shrinkage: Added sintering aids allow the material to gradually sinter and solidify during furnace heating, ensuring volume stability without shrinkage or cracking, and achieving a tight bond with surrounding bricks.
Low Contamination, High Quality: Strict control of impurity levels in raw materials reduces the risk of bubble and stone contamination in the glass melt.
Applications:
Sealing layers for glass melting furnace hearths; backfill layers beneath hearth facing bricks; filling and reinforcement around molten glass channels; filling of furnace wall masonry joints; sealing around electrode bricks; and protective layers at the bottom of charging ports. Suitable for new furnace construction and cold repair projects in melting furnaces for bottle and jar glass, tableware glass, and float glass.
