Electrofused α-alumina bricks are manufactured from high-purity alumina and cast at high temperatures in an electric arc furnace. With an α-Al₂O₃ phase content of over 95% and extremely low impurity levels, they serve as an ideal dense refractory material for the upper structures and flame zones of glass melting furnaces.
Key Features:
Ultra-high purity: α-Al₂O₃ phase content ≥ 95%; virtually no glass phase leaching at high temperatures, eliminating contamination of the glass melt at the source.
Excellent high-temperature stability: High refractoriness and high load-bearing softening temperature; does not deform or soften under long-term high-temperature conditions.
Excellent Resistance to Steam Erosion: Demonstrates outstanding resistance to alkaline steam and volatile components, making it particularly suitable for upper structures such as breast walls and front walls.
Dense and Impermeable: Extremely low apparent porosity and a dense crystalline structure effectively block the penetration of gases and dust, extending furnace service life.
Low foaming and low stone formation: Free of zirconia components, it prevents stone defects in specific areas and meets the stringent purity requirements of high-end glass production.
Applications:
Upper structures of glass melting furnaces (chest walls, front walls), channel covers, inspection hole bricks, burner bricks, and other areas not in direct contact with molten glass. Widely used in float glass, container glass, and specialty glass melting furnaces.
