Electrofused α-β alumina bricks are manufactured from high-purity alumina through high-temperature melting and casting in an electric arc furnace. They consist of an interwoven structure of two crystalline phases: α-Al₂O₃ and β-Al₂O₃. Combining the high-temperature strength of the α phase with the thermal shock resistance of the β phase, these bricks are an ideal choice for critical areas of glass melting furnaces that come into direct contact with molten glass.
Key Features:
Biphasic Composite Structure: The α phase provides excellent erosion resistance and high-temperature strength, while the β phase offers outstanding thermal shock resistance. These complementary properties work synergistically to extend the service life of the furnace.
Extremely Low Contamination: Containing virtually no glass phase, the product does not produce leachables at high temperatures, eliminating stone formation and bubbles at the source and effectively ensuring the purity of the molten glass.
Outstanding Thermal Shock Resistance: The low thermal expansion properties of β-Al₂O₃ prevent cracking or spalling under rapid cooling and heating conditions, making it suitable for frequent temperature fluctuations.
Dense and Corrosion-Resistant: With a dense crystalline structure and extremely low apparent porosity, it offers strong resistance to both molten glass erosion and alkali vapor penetration.
Wide Range of Applications: Free of zirconia components, it is particularly suitable for glass varieties sensitive to stone formation and meets the demands of high-end glass melting.
Applications:
Areas in glass melting furnaces that come into direct contact with molten glass, such as channels, troughs, furnace walls, and feed passages. Widely used in float glass, container glass, tableware glass, and specialty glass melting furnaces.
