Electrofused β-alumina bricks are manufactured from high-purity alumina using an electric arc furnace, with β-Al₂O₃ as the primary crystalline phase. These products feature an extremely low glass phase content and exceptional thermal shock resistance, making them an ideal choice for protecting the upper structures and flame zones of glass melting furnaces from alkali vapor erosion.
Key Features:
Near-zero glass phase: The crystalline phase consists almost entirely of β-Al₂O₃, with no glass phase leaching at high temperatures, eliminating contamination at the material level.
Excellent thermal shock resistance: The unique layered crystal structure effectively buffers thermal stress, preventing cracking or spalling under rapid cooling and heating conditions, and withstanding frequent temperature fluctuations.
High Resistance to Alkaline Vapor Corrosion: Exhibits excellent chemical stability against alkaline components volatilized in glass furnaces; does not powderize or flake off even after prolonged exposure.
High-Temperature Volume Stability: Low bulk density and good high-temperature creep properties ensure that the material does not impose excessive stress on the furnace body within the upper structure.
High-sensitivity protection: As a specialized material for observation ports, burners, and similar components, it provides tight protection for the furnace body without interfering with the glass melting atmosphere.
Applications:
Upper structures of glass melting furnaces (chest walls, front walls), observation hole bricks, burner bricks, thermocouple bricks, and other flame-exposed areas not in direct contact with molten glass. Widely used in float glass, container glass, and specialty glass melting furnaces.
