AZS refractory mortar is an air-setting or heat-setting refractory slurry formulated primarily from fine and ultrafine powders of electrofused zirconia-alumina (AZS), with the addition of chemical binders and composite additives. Derived from the same material as AZS bricks, this product is specifically designed for the joints in AZS brick masonry. It sintered at high temperatures to form a dense, monolithic structure, ensuring the structural integrity of the furnace lining.
Key Features:
Homogeneous Matching and Seamless Bonding: With chemical composition and thermal expansion coefficients identical to those of AZS bricks, the mortar expands and contracts in sync with the bricks during furnace temperature cycling, preventing joint separation or delamination.
High Bond Strength: Exhibits exceptional adhesion to the AZS brick substrate, maintaining a tight bond at both ambient and high temperatures to ensure the structural integrity of the masonry.
Dense and Impermeable: The fine-grained mortar fully fills the brick joints and fuses with the AZS bricks after high-temperature sintering, effectively preventing glass melt penetration and upward drilling.
Long-Lasting Corrosion Resistance: Rich in ZrO₂, it offers corrosion resistance comparable to that of AZS bricks, preventing premature joint failure and extending the service life of the entire kiln.
Excellent Workability: The consistency is adjustable, allowing for both troweling and jointing. It applies smoothly, retains moisture well, and resists cracking, making it suitable for both new furnace construction and cold repair projects.
Volumetric Stability and Crack Resistance: Linear shrinkage during drying and sintering is minimal, preventing cracks in the mortar layer that could lead to leaks.
Applications:
Masonry joints in all AZS brick structures of glass melting furnaces, including critical areas such as the walls of the melting tank, the tank floor lining, flow channels, charging ports, furnace hearths, and the peripheries of electrode bricks. Suitable for new construction and cold repair masonry in melting furnaces for bottle and jar glass, tableware glass, and float glass.
