Zircon refractory mortar is formulated using high-quality fine and ultrafine zircon sand (ZrSiO₄) as the primary raw material, combined with high-performance binders and composite admixtures. Derived from the same material as zircon bricks, this product offers excellent resistance to glass melt erosion and high-temperature bonding strength. It is specifically designed for jointing and sealing zircon brick masonry and can also be used for the construction of other high-alumina refractory bricks.
Key Features:
Outstanding Erosion Resistance: The high zirconium content enables the refractory mortar to form a dense protective layer upon contact with molten glass, providing far superior resistance to erosion by sodium-calcium and borosilicate glass compared to ordinary refractory mortars.
Excellent Thermal Expansion Matching: It shares the same coefficient of thermal expansion as zircon sand bricks, expanding and contracting in sync with the bricks during furnace heating and cooling cycles, ensuring that joints do not separate or delaminate.
High Bond Strength: It exhibits exceptional adhesion to zircon sand bricks and high-alumina brick substrates, maintaining a tight bond at both ambient and high temperatures to ensure structural stability.
Dense and Impermeable: The fine-grained mortar fully fills the brick joints, forming a monolithic structure after high-temperature sintering, effectively preventing glass melt penetration and alkali vapor intrusion.
Low Contamination, High Quality: With extremely low impurity content, it releases no harmful substances at high temperatures and does not contaminate the molten glass, making it suitable for high-end glass melting furnaces.
Smooth Application and Excellent Water Retention: The consistency is adjustable, allowing for smooth application and grouting. It has excellent water retention and is resistant to cracking, making it ideal for precision masonry work.
Applications:
Masonry joints in zircon sand brick structures of glass melting furnaces, including critical areas such as the hearth, breast wall, front wall, and burner brick sections. It can also be used for sealing joints in high-alumina and corundum brick structures. Suitable for float glass, optical glass, solar glass, and specialty glass melting furnaces.
